How Envocare creates a circular economy

Envocare operates as a key driver of a circular economy by turning waste into value, creating a sustainable loop that benefits both the environment and rural communities.

Gathering Agricultural and Municipal Waste

Gathering Agricultural and Municipal Waste

Envocare starts by collecting agricultural waste like rice husks, maize cobs, and other crop residues from farmer cooperatives. These are materials that would otherwise be burned or dumped in landfills, contributing to pollution and CO2 emissions. Additionally, Envocare secures municipal sludge, which would otherwise be a disposal issue, to transform it into useful products.

Using advanced pyrolysis technology, Envocare processes these waste materials into biochar, a soil-enhancing fertilizer, and biofuels. The pyrolysis process not only repurposes waste but also sequesters up to 90% of the carbon content in the biomass, resulting in approximately 0.9 tons of CO2 captured for every ton of biochar produced. This creates environmental benefits by preventing emissions while generating useful, renewable products.

Empowering Farmers and Households with Affordable Products

Once processed, Envocare distributes biochar fertilizers and biofuel briquettes to the same agricultural collectives and farmer groups that provide the raw materials. By utilizing carbon financing, Envocare is able to subsidize the cost of these products, making them affordable to smallholder farmers and rural households. This not only supports the farmers in improving soil fertility and reducing their reliance on traditional firewood but also enhances their livelihoods by closing the loop in this sustainable cycle.

Closing the Loop and Restarting the Cycle

After using Envocare's affordable, sustainable products, the farmers once again contribute their agricultural waste back into the cycle. This continuous loop ensures that waste is not a problem but a resource, allowing Envocare to keep the cycle going—constantly generating value from what would otherwise be environmental harm.

This closed-loop system showcases Envocare’s ability to create a circular economy where waste is minimized, value is continuously extracted, and both the environment and communities benefit.
